PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate electric charge left on a transfer belt so that the transfer action of a transfer belt is not affected while simplifying the constitution of a transfer unit even in the case of such structure that the installing interval of the transfer units is narrowed by using the transfer belt whose volume resistivity is comparatively low. SOLUTION: This image forming device is constituted so that a color image is formed by successively superposing and transferring color component images formed by respective image forming units 2 to the transfer belt 1 or a recording material by the transfer units 3. Then, the transfer belt whose volume resistivity is 10<5> to 10<12>Ωcm is used as the belt 1. Besides, a discharge unit 5(5a-5d, for example) discharging the electric charge left on the belt 1 to a prescribed low potential part is disposed at a prescribed position on a downstream side in the moving direction of the belt 1 with respect to the units 3. Then, a high resistance 6(6a-6d, for example) electrically connected between the belt 1 and the prescribed low potential part is included in the unit 5.
