A massage device with a power driven rotor e.g. a roller or brush has a static support column (1) up and down which an adjustable carrier arm (12) with attached rotor (14) and drive (12) can be moved. The support column (1) has an internal hydraulically operated positioning cylinder (6) on whose piston shaft (7), the length of which is greater than the piston travel, the carrier arm (12) may be clamped in various relative positions. The piston (8) of the cylinder (6) has a control valve which is operated by the hydraulic medium. The appartus is thus adjustable over the whole length of the body to be massaged.
