WET POWDERY ACTIVATED CARBON FREE FROM GETTING MOLDY AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the wet activated carbon capable of standing to a long term storage even at wet state and in which the growth of bacteria and fungi is suppressed. SOLUTION: The wet powdery activated carbon hardly getting moldy is constituted by incorporating 20-60 wt.% water content and 0.001-0.02 wt.% silver compd. expressed in terms of silver metal. In the case when the silver compd. is silver nitride and added and mixed to water in a proportion of 2 wt.%, an amount of silver to be eluted is <=50 ppb in the water preferably. In the production method of the wet powdery activated carbon, a silver compd. aq. soln. is dispersed and mixed to the powdery activated carbon.
