A method of and apparatus for confirming the scheduling of a televoting event in a switched communications system (2) including an intelligent network. When a televoting scheduling request is sent from the SCP (16) to each SSP (4, 6, 8) in the network, each SSP (4, 6, 8) sends to the SCP (16) either a positive acknowledgment if that SSP (4, 6, 8) can be used in the televoting event, or a negative acknowledgment if that SSP (4, 6, 8) cannot be used in the televoting event, and a subscriber terminal (32) connected to the network is automatically sent either a confirmation message if each SSP (4, 6, 8) sends a positive acknowledgment to the SCP (16), or a rejection message if any of the SSPs sends a negative acknowledgment to the SCP (16).
