Photocatalyst comprises: a substrate (1); a photocatalyst film (2) formed on the surface of the substrate (1); and transparent particles (3) covering at least one surface of the photocatalyst film (2) allowing radiation and gases to contact the photocatalyst film (2). Independent claims are also included for: (a) a functional object composed of a main part of a functional object and a photocatalyst formed on a part of the main part, the photocatalyst comprising a substrate (1); a photocatalyst film (2) formed on the surface of the substrate (1); and transparent particles (3) covering at least one surface of the photocatalyst film (2) allowing radiation and gases to contact the photocatalyst film (2); and (b) a fluorescent lamp comprising an incandescent bulb (11); and a photocatalyst as described above.
