PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject herbicide having good diffusibility in a flooded paddy field and applicable to several laborsaving applications by including a herbicidally active component, a surfactant, a carbonate, a water-soluble solid acid and others. SOLUTION: This herbicide is obtained by including (A) 0.1-60 wt.% herbicidally active component [e.g. (RS)-2-bromo-N-(α,α-dimethylbenzyl)-3,3- dimethylbutyramide], (B) 1-40 wt.% surfactant (e.g. dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid), (C) a carbonate, preferably sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate, (D) a water-soluble solid acid, preferably maleic acid, fumaric acid, citric acid, malic acid, boric acid or sodium dihydrogenphosphate where the weight ratio C/D is (1:5) to (5:1) preferably (1:3) to (3:1) and (E) one or more kinds of component selected from hydrated silicates, water-soluble supports and water-soluble polymers; wherein the sum of the components C and D accounts for 20-85 wt.% of the whole amount of the herbicide.
