Audio control data extracted from SMF data are supplied to an audio decoder by a data decoder. The audio decoder provides an audio output in response to the received audio control signal. As long as the time required for decoding in the audio decoder is sufficiently short, the playback sounds and the audio output are synchronized since the audio control signal has been decoded from the meta-event of the SMF data.
