Imaging device with low consumption electron viewfinder

The system has a standard digital circuit arrangement comprising a photo-detect matrix (2), a display matrix (4) with geometry that is a scaled multiple of the detector, an A-D converter (31), memory (32) and microprocessor (33). In addition there is an extra interface (37) between the two matrices which transmits amplified signals from the photo-detector to the display driver directly in analog form. Display processing is handled by grouping the detect matrix into blocks (22) using a scaling which results in the number of blocks exactly equaling the number of points on the display matrix. The interface circuit takes the averaged signal from this block and transmits it directly in analog form to a single point (41) in the display driver.
