PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust image write starting positions to be the same in a simple constitution when images of a plurality of lines are to be formed with the use of a plurality of laser lights. SOLUTION: A first laser light alone is let to scan first (S1). An output start timing differenceΔt1 of pulse signals output from two synchronous detection sensors is obtained as a reference value (S2). Then in one scan, immediately after the first synchronous detection sensor 41a is scanned by the first laser light LB1, the second synchronous detection sensor 41b is scanned by a second laser light LB2 (S3, S4). An output start timing differenceΔt2 of pulse signals output from the two synchronous detection sensors is obtained as a value to be compared (S5). A difference between the reference valueΔt1 and the value to be comparedΔt2 is obtained as a correction valueΔt to control an image write timing (56).
