PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a grinding solution for an aluminum alloy plate for a magnetic disc base having high productivity and a low treatment cost and to provide a method for grinding. SOLUTION: This grinding solution for an aluminum alloy plate for a magnetic disc base contains a compound (A) shown by the following general formula and an 8-22C branched fatty acid (B). R[O- (AO)p /(CH2 CH2 O)p }Q]r with the proviso that R is a 1-22C hydrocarbon group, Q is CH2 COOM or CH2 CH2 COOM, A is a 3-4C alkylene group, (p) is an integer of 10-300, (q) is an integer of 0 or 1-40, (r) is 1 or 2, M is an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal or an amine salt and (AO)p /(CH2 CH2 O)1 } is a random addition or a block addition. Preferably the ratio of the compound (A)/the branched fatty acid (B) by weight is 70/30 to 99/1, the compound (A) has 800 15,000 number average molecular weight and a dilution ratio (wt.%) of the active ingredients except water in the grinding solution is >=0.03 wt.% and <1 wt.%. |
