The present invention relates to a method of preparing conjugates between a carrier component and an immunogenic component in a time and temperature dependent manner. The conjugated material delivers the immunogenic component or components to the mucosal immune system. The present invention also relates to a composition of matter comprising carrier and immunogenic components. More specifically, the present invention relates to a composition of matter containing the specific mucosal delivery properties of CtB and diphteria toxoid.
