The invention relates to a sheet printing method in which sheets printed in a sheet printing machine (2) are conveyed through a sheet delivery (22) situated over a sheet delivery stack (26) by means of a sheet conveying device (20) and are covered with a powder. An uncontrolled dispersion of excess powder is prevented during this process. The invention also relates to a device for preventing an uncontrolled dispersion of powder in a housing (24) of a sheet delivery (22) of a sheet printing machine (2). The device encompasses a conveying device (20) for transporting the printed sheets over a sheet delivery stack (26), and a powdering device (50) for powdering the printed sheets with a powder. The invention provides a reduction in the formation of powder due to the dispersion of excess powder in the proximity of the printing machine (2) and, to a large extent, prevents the formation of powder deposits inside the housing (24). To this end, an airstream which is charged with powder and which flows in the housing (24) of the sheet delivery (22) along a return strand (36) of the conveying device (20) in a direction toward the printing machine (2) is interrupted at at least one position located between the free end of the sheet delivery (22) and the printing machine (2) in order to prevent the carried powder from being transported in a direction toward the printing machine (2). |
