N-3-Disubstituted 1,2-di(hetero)aryl-3-aminopropanol derivatives of formula (I) and their acid addition salts are new. R1, R2 = 3-8C cycloalkyl, phenyl, naphthyl, phenathryl, pyridyl, thienyl, furyl, pyrimidyl, indolyl, thiazolyl, imidazolyl, coumarinyl, phthaliminyl, quinolyl, piperazinyl, tetrazolyl, triazolyl, oxazolyl or their thieno-, pyrido- or benzo-fused derivatives (all optionally substituted by 1-3 of F, Cl, Br, I, OH, CF3, NO2, CN, 1-8C alkyl, 1-8C alkoxy, NH2, NHR9, NR9R10, CHO, COOH, COOR11, COR12, -Q-OH,-Q(OH)-Ph, -Q-CF3, -Q-NO2, -Q-CN, -Q-NH2, -Q-NHR9, -Q-NR9R10, -Q-CHO, -Q-COOH, -Q-COOR11, -Q-COR12, -O-Q-OH, -O-Q-CF3, -O-Q-NO2, -O-Q-CN, -O-Q-NH2, -O-Q-NHR9, -O-Q-NR9R10, -O-Q-CHO, -O-Q-COOH, -O-Q-COOR11, -O-Q-COR12, -N-SO3H (sic), SO2Me and -O-Q-O-Q-phenyl); Q = 1-6C alkylene; R3-R8 = H, halo, CF3, NO2, CN, 1-8C alkoxy, 1-8C alkyl, NH2, NHR9, NR9R10, CHO, COOH, COOR11 or COR12; R9-R12 = H or 1-8C alkyl; X, Y = CH or N; and all alkyl and alkylene groups are optionally substituted by one or more F; provided that (I; R1, R2 = Ph; and X, Y = CH) is excluded.
