A composition comprises: (i) an elastomer subject to oxidative, thermal, light or ozone-induced degradation; and (ii) at least one benzofuran-2-one type stabilizer. An Independent claim is also included for a method of stabilizing elastomers against oxidative, thermal, light or ozone-induced degradation. The method comprises incorporating in or applying to an elastomer a benzofuran-2-one type stabilizer.
