The invention relates to a method for the ultra-fast acquisition of images, which uses an image sensor (2), specifically a CCD type sensor, comprising a photosensitive matrix zone having semiconductors (2a) which transforms and accumulates light energy in the form of electric charges, and electronic control means (2') designed to transfer and possibly digitize the electric charges accumulated by the photosensitive zone. According to said method, a sequence of (N) optical images is generated, which are spaced in time by time intervals ( delta t1) which are shorter than or equal to 0.1 ms and which are spatially distributed in such a way that each optical image becomes imprinted on the photosensitive zone (2a) of the sensor in a section assigned to it. All or part of the electric charges accumulated by the photosensitive zone (2a) are transferred at least when the optical image sequence has been generated.
