The coin operated lock used e.g. on shopping trolleys is designed to be operated by two coins (3,4) instead of one, each located in separate slots (2). The coins rare positioned one above the other in the slots and the edges engage specific housing contours (5,6). The coins displace movable elements (7,8) to effect release of the mechanism.
