PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable heightening the stability of a curtain by performing the supply of a liquid thin film on a side guide so that the surface velocity thereof is made equal to the falling velocity of the curtain at all points along the side guide. SOLUTION: The figure shows a curtain (indicated by two arrows 7), a liquid thin film 8, and further a liquid supply source 9, and a vacuum line 10 communicating with a suction slit 5. Furthermore, a part of a rear wall 16 of a side guide is shown, and the liquid supply source 9 is provided there. In a channel, low viscosity liquid, preferably water, flows down vertically. The width of the channel coinciding with that of a perforated plate 2 should be selected so that the curtain 7 can be stuck to the liquid without obstacle depending on the falling curve. That is, at any point, the liquid flows through the plate 2 to enable generating falling surface velocity of the liquid thin film on the opposite side of the plate 2, and the falling surface velocity is set so that it accurately coincides with the falling velocity of the curtain 7.
