PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the back motion speed of a scanner and improve SPM (sheets per minute). SOLUTION: A scanner is driven by a stepping motor and starts from a point (g) and returns to the point (g) through an acceleration period (a), a constant speed vibration absorbing period (b), a constant speed image reading period (c), a deceleration period (d), and a back period (e). An acceleration torque is increased in the periods (d) and (e), and an acceleration and a motor electric energy in the deceleration period and a motor electric energy in the back period are made so as to be made equal to each other to have the deceleration of the period (d) and the acceleration of the period (e) equal to each other. |
