The vacuum cleaner suction head has a housing (1) and a suction mouth (3) bounded by edges (3) on the underside of the housing. The edges protrude on a bottom surface (4) of the housing which has a bottom-side peripheral edge arranged in the working direction at a distance from the suction mouth edges that protrudes below relative to the housing bottom surface and lies on a carpet nap to be vacuumed in a noise-enclosing fashion. The suction mouth edges protrude minimally relative to the peripheral edge of the housing and deeper into the carpet nap to be cleaned than the peripheral edge. The bottom-side peripheral edge of the housing is rounded outwards like a beading.
