The airbag has a fitted weight sensor. The sensor detects if a child is in the seat in the event of a crash, and operates the airbag, possibly by acting on a contact. The seat may also include a vibration switch to operate the airbag in a crash. The charge of the ignition contact for the airbag is of a lower strength than that of an airbag for adults.
