PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating composition which can form on a metallic can a coating film excellent in adhesion properties, processability, boiling water resistance and hardness by employing specified amounts of an actinic radiation curable monomer, an amino resin and an acrylic copolymer. SOLUTION: 30-85 pts. (on a weight basis) actinic radiation curable monomer (e.g. bisphenol. A-type epoxy acrylate), 10-50 pts. amino resin, preferably a benzoguanamine resin and 5-40 pts. acrylic copolymer obtained by polymerization of a monomer preferably containing hydroxyl group and anα,β-ethylenically unsaturated double bond and one or more of an N-methylolalkoxy(meth) acrylamide and/or an N-methylol(meth)acrylamde as an essential component are employed such that the total of the three components is 100 pts. If desired, a photopolymerization initiator in which an absorption area ranging 300-500 nm is 10% or more of the total absorption area ranging 200-500 nm in an absorption curve (e.g. an acylphosphine oxide-type one) is further employed.
