PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the recording density and the resolution of an optical recording and reproducing device using a solid submersion lens. SOLUTION: The optical recording and reproducing device consists of a laser light source 1, an objective lens 3 which converges the light beams generated by the source 1 and passed through a beam splitter 2, a solid submerged lens 4, which is very closely arranged to the surface 6a of an optical disk 6 and forms a converging spot on a planar lens surface 4b by the light beams converged by the lens 3, and the scanning mechanism which rotates the disk 6 and scans the converged spot on the surface of the disk 6. The lens 4 is formed into a semispherical shape having the surface 4b, which is made close to the surface 6a of the disk 6, and a spherical lens surface 4a which is opposing to the light source side and has its center on the surface 4b. The surface 4b is covered by a light shielding layer. A minute opening 5 is formed at the center point of the surface 4a on the layer. |
