Tilt and swivel apparatus for a display monitor uses a single motor

A tilt member 20 is detachably connected to the bottom of a display monitor and is supported on the top surface of a swivel member 30. A plurality of guide blocks 23 and an arcuate rack gear 24 are provided on the bottom surface of the tilt member. The guide blocks engage in grooves 31 of the swivel member to guide tilt movement. Motor 51, mounted in swivel member 30, is moved by solenoid 57. Swivel gear 53 on the end of motor shaft 52 engages with stationary gear 56 fixed on a vertical shaft of a base member 40 only when the motor is advanced by solenoid 57. Tilt gear 54 is driven by the motor only when the motor is moved backwards by the solenoid and rotates the rack gear 24 of the tilt member 20. Tilting or swivelling of the monitor is controlled by buttons 71-74 or a remote controller.
