Distance detection device in automatic excavating machine

The device determines the distance to a point by device of an emitted signal and a return signal, which are produced by a pulsed millimetre-waveband sensor system. A time-amplitude converter receives a start signal triggering a time measuring sequence and a stop signal from an OR gate coupled to several constant-break discriminators, and outputs a distance signal proportional to the corresponding time difference. The device determines the distance to a point by device of an emitted signal and a return signal, which are produced by a pulsed millimetre-waveband sensor system. Several constant-break discriminators are provided, whereby their input signal is, e.g. the return signal of the sensor system, and whereby the discriminators produce an output signal, if the return signal is detected. An OR gate receives the output signals of the discriminators and outputs a stop signal, if the return signal is detected. A time-amplitude converter receives a start signal triggering a time measuring sequence and the stop signal from the OR gate, and outputs a distance signal which is proportional to the time difference between the detections of the start- and the stop signal.
