摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic tape which is high in output and highly durable by forming a magnetic film to a thickness within a specific range and incorporating a polymeric material into a carbon protective film in such a manner that this film exhibits a numerical value of a specific range by a Raman spectroscopic method. SOLUTION: The thickness of the magnetic film is preferably specified to 0.1 to 0.14μ. The inside of the protective film is in the mingled state of the part consisting of the carbon and the polymeric material part continuous with hydrocarbon. The amt. of the polymeric material is checkable by the Raman spectroscopic method. The material has an inclination by fluorescence in a range of spectra 1000 to 1800 cm<-1> and has peaks on this inclination. The ratio (B/A) of the peak intensity B at the max. peak among these peaks and the peak intensity A excluding the background by the fluoresce from the max. peak is specified to 1.4 to 7.2. Further, the constitution ratio of the graphite structure and diamond structure of the carbon is indirectly known by the ratio of the peak area intensity of the spectra and the deposition conditions are controlled, by which high durability is embodied.
