PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve comfortableness of a driver under vehicle-to-vehicle distance control. SOLUTION: When vehicle-to-vehicle distance data is inputted (step 201), relative speed is computed from change in this vehicle-to-vehicle distance data (step 204), and a basic acceleration/deceleration ratio is computed from the difference between the present vehicle-to-vehicle distance and target vehicle-to- vehicle distance, and the relative speed (step 212. In the large state of the vehicle-to-vehicle distance, a correction factor to make the acceleration/ deceleration ratio small is computed (step 214), and the basic acceleration/ deceleration ratio is multiplied by this correction factor to obtain an acceleration/deceleration ratio (step 215). Target vehicle speed is computed on the basis of this acceleration/ deceleration ratio. |
