PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge with a waste ink absorbing function for reducing an installation area of an ink jet printer by vertically placing the cartridge, mounting it in an ink jet printer and accelerating an absorbing velocity of a waste ink to be absorbed by a waste ink absorbing material. SOLUTION: In the ink cartridge comprising an ink bag 6 for storing an ink, a waste ink absorbing material 20 for absorbing a waste ink, a cartridge cage 30 for containing the bag 6 and the material 20, and a waste ink inlet 522 mounted at the case 30 to discharge the waste ink to the absorbing material 20, the inlet 522 is provided at a second surface standing substantially perpendicularly from an edge of a first surface of one surface of the cartridge to be a bottom in the case of mounting the cartridge in an ink jet printer mountable with the cartridge and provided above a substantially center of the second surface in a height direction. |
