PURIFICATION OF PHOSPHORUS OXYCHLORIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying phosphorus oxychloride into extremely pure phosphorus oxychloride which is hardly contaminated by an organic substance. SOLUTION: In a method for purifying recovered or regenerated phosphorus oxychloride which is contaminated by a reactive organic compound, the contaminated phosphorus oxychloride is reacted with 0.15 wt.% organic amine having 1 or 2 tertiary N-atoms and having a boiling point not lower than boiling point of the oxychloride at the bioling point of the reaction mixture and the reaction product is subjected to fractional distillation at a normal pressure to provide the objective pure phosphorus oxychloride.
