METHOD FOR OPERATING AIR CONDITIONER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the starting time of an air conditioner at the time of operating the air conditioner for cooling by making bubbles to quickly disappear even when a refrigerant which is enclosed in a system and can be changed in phase boils as the pressure in an outdoor machine drops when the operation of the air conditioner is started. SOLUTION: An air conditioner is constituted by connecting an outdoor machine 1 to a plurality of indoor machines 4 which are positioned at lower levels than the outdoor machine 1 through gaseous-phase pipes 6 and liquid-phase pipes 7 provided with a motor-driven pump 10 so that the indoor machines 4 may be operated for heating by introducing a gas endothermically evaporated in the outdoor machine 1 to the indoor machines 4 for condensation through heat radiation and returning the condensed liquid to the outdoor machine 1 by means of the pump 10 or for cooling by supplying the liquid condensed in the outdoor machine 1 through heat radiation to the indoor machines 4 by utilizing the specific gravity difference between the liquid phase and gaseous phase and returning the gas endothermically evaporated in the indoor machines 4 to the outdoor machine 1. The normal operation of the air conditioner for cooling is started by closing the flow regulating valves 8 of the indoor machines 4 which are not operated for the cooling and stopping the pump 10 after the operation of the outdoor machine 1 is started and the valves 8 are opened, and then, the pump 10 is started at the time of starting the operation of the air conditioner for cooling.
