PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ultrasonic motor whose operation is easy, in which the vibration amplitude of traveling waves generated in a stator is expanded and in which a rotor is turned with high efficiency by a method wherein a groove which is passed through in the thickness direction of a support member is formed in the radial direction of the support member and an elastic piece is installed. SOLUTION: The amplitude of the bending vibration of piezoelectric elements 14a, 14b is expanded by an elastic body 15 and by vibration parts 18a, 18b. Due to the vibration, traveling waves in one direction are generated in elastic pieces 31 in the vibration parts 18a, 18b. The traveling waves are transmitted to the pressure contact face of a rotor. As a result, the rotor is turned, via a frictional force, to a direction opposite to that of the traveling waves in one direction. The elastic pieces 31 which are formed in the vibration parts 18a, 18b on support plates 13a, 13b are formed of grooves 30. The grooves 30 can be formed easily by a punching operation such as a press working operation or the like. That is to say, since the groove 30 which are formed in the vibration parts 18a, 18b are formed at a time by the press working operation, the support plates 13a, 13b in which the elastic pieces 31 are formed by the grooves 30 can be manufactured in several minutes. |
