PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject lubricating oil capable of preventing fine soils and scratches due to abraded powder and exhibiting an excellent surface property of a rolled plate and lubricating property on rolling, and useful for a cold rolling of a nonferrous metal such as aluminum by containing a specific ketone compound in a specific amount to a base oil. SOLUTION: This lubricating oil for a cold roll is obtained by blending (A) a base oil (e. g.; a mineral oil consisting mainly of a hydrocarbon, a synthetic oil or their mixture), (B) 1-20 wt. % compound of the formula: R-CO-R' (R, R' are each a hydrocarbon group, e.g. an alkyl, an aryl or a heterocyclic group), (preferably, 2-heptanone, 2-nonanone, 2-dodecanone). The lubricating oil is used by spraying the same at both of a cold rolled plate or coil and rolling rolls, especially to the roll biting position on rolling the plate and an outlet side part of the rolls so as to remove an abraded powder generated at the roll biting part from the surface of the plate and the surface of the roll efficiently. |
