PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable photographing even when a memory card is not formatted yet and to record photographed image data in an MS-DOS format. SOLUTION: When the unformatted memory card is mounted on a digital camera 10, for example, the photographed image data for one frame (photographed image data) are stored in a memory area 24a. A CPU 28 compresses these photographed image data in a JPEG format while using a work area 24a and the compressed data are recorded at the sector preceding to the end of the memory card 30. Then, the CPU 28 invalidates the operation of a shutter button 34 and performs so-called quick formatting to the memory card 30. Afterwards, the compressed data are temporarily held in a buffer area 24c having the capacitance of one cluster and written into the data area of the memory card 30 for each cluster. |
