A preferably upwards protruding lip (5) extends coaxially around the outside of a flange extending around the container mouth rim. A reusable plastic lid is releasably fitted to the mouth of the container with the aid of a downwards facing groove which receives the lip. The rim (2) around the mouth of the container (1) has an integrally formed, outwards protruding horizontal flange (3), preferably extending coaxial with the rim. The inside edge of the flange forms the inner mouth wall, to which a film (4) is secured to render the container airtight.
