The invention relates to fluorinated phenanthrene derivatives of formula (I), wherein G1 represents -CH=CH- or -CH2CH2-, X represents H or F, Y represents H or F, and R<1>, M1-A1-R<2> represent mesogene radicals. The derivatives are suited as components of liquid crystalline mixtures.
