<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating the junction quality of the slit end of a metal carrier for purifying exhaust gas where the junction between a plane foil and a wave foil is performed only at one edge part and a slit is formed by one part of the spiral-shaped winding of a honeycomb body. SOLUTION: Two parallel cuttings 11 are formed on a honeycomb body 2 from its outer periphery, a place (slit) 5 where spiral-shaped winding junction is not made and a part being surrounded by the outer periphery of the honeycomb body 2 and the two cuttings 11 are grasped in the section of the opposite side of one edge part 15 of the honeycomb body 2, the grasped part is peeled from the honeycomb body 2, and the broken part of the honeycomb body 2 due to peeling is observed, thus evaluating the quality of a slit end junction part.</p> |
