The body is divided into two or more successive zones in the flow direction, having interconnected chambers. The upstream zone is of lesser porosity hindering flame formation, while the porosity of the second zone is greater, allowing combustion. An open space (3,29) is provided at an igniter (2,31) situated after the upstream zone. The height of this space can be small in relation to its measurements in the transverse direction, and it can extend over virtually the entire cross-section of the body. Where the cross-sectional area of the space is 30 to 50 sq. cm, its height can be between 5,10 mm. The body can be in two or more successive sections (21,23) in the flow direction, the upstream one enclosing the space at the top.
|
