Sterile linkage and seal between two biotechnical units for sterile fluids

A sterile linkage and seal (16) between two pieces of apparatus provides a means of handling sterile biotechnical fluids under laboratory or pilot plant conditions. If the inner surfaces of the component parts are sterilized before use, the presence of dead volume may prevent full inner sterilization and contaminants may subsequently migrate to the sterile chamber. The seal has sections (16a,b) which extend onto the inner surfaces of a pipe outlet through which sterile media are conveyed, preventing the creation of dead space.
