Flat lamp with compact optical fiber disc arrangement

A flat lamp has a compact optical fiber disc arrangement with side light entry edges into which the light of a number of LEDs is fed. There are measures interrupting total reflection for deflecting the light towards one or both sides of the disc arrangement in a flat region provided for this for the illumination or rear lighting of pictograms, especially safety signs. At least between the light entry edges for supplying the LEDs and the surface provided for the light radiation, an edge zone is provided in which the light is guided but not radiated into the outer space. The edge zone is dimensioned so large that the fed-in light can mix sufficiently in its region in order to effect a sufficiently uniform light radiation on the light-radiating surface.
