There is provided a firefighter's coat construction wherein there is no thermal gap between the cuff of the shell and the liner sleeve and wherein there is no possible break in protection between the wristers of the coat and the associated liner sleeve. The coat includes an outer shell having a pair of shell sleeves each of which has an open lower end, a liner within the outer shell and having a pair of liner sleeves disposed within one of the shell sleeves and having an open lower end with wristers being permanently secured to the lower end of one end of the liner sleeves and with means detachable connecting the lower end of each liner sleeve and the interconnected wrister to the lower end of the associate shell sleeve to thereby form a sleeve well at the lower end of each of the shell sleeves.
