摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute wavelength dispersion compensation and optical amplification with the small number of optical parts by providing an exciting light source at the terminal end of a chirped grating and inserting an Er additional optical fiber amplifying signal light by exciting light into the route of exciting light and signal light. SOLUTION: Signal light which is wavelength-multiplexed is transmitted through an input optical transmission line 8 and it is made incident on the port 1 of an optical circulator 1. It is emitted from a port 2 and it reaches the chirped grating 3 via a wavelength dispersion compensation fiber 2. Signal light reflected and folded on the grating 3 is made incident on the port 2 and it is emitted from the port 3. Exciting light is made incident from the exciting light source 4 at the terminal end of the grating 3 so that signal light Er is amplified by exciting light while it passes through the Er additional optical fiber 5. Signal light amplified in the optical fiber 5 is outputted to an output transmission line via a WDM coupler 6 and an optical isolator 7. Residual exciting light is branched in the coupler 6 and is discharged.
