Optical breadth measuring equipment for strip material

The support has two measuring rolls (9, 10) with a gap between forming the slit. A pair of opposing rolls (12, 13) act as light guides above the support. Light is supplied by a strip light (11) below, parallel to and symmetric with the measuring rolls. Both measuring rolls and opposing rolls are thin-walled aluminum rolls. The aluminum rolls are dynamically balanced and hard anodized. Measuring rolls (9,10) are located prior to the outlet section of a guiding calibrating basket (1) with a curved diverting section perpendicular to the strip plane. Strip material (2) is flat and has slight tension when running over the measuring rolls. The spacing between the opposing rolls (12, 13) is greater than on the measuring rolls. Floating rolls (4) and guide fingers (5, 6) are located in the inlet area prior to the measuring rolls (4). Brush rolls (7) support the strip material between the measuring rolls and a conveyer (3).
