PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the feed ingestion by a ruminant, fatten the ruminant and improve the production of marbled meat by orally administering an amino acid or the like to the ruminant in an infantile period and enhancing the fat accumulation among muscle fibers in the fattening period. SOLUTION: An amino acid such as a glycogenic amino acid, e.g. asparagine (aspartic acid) or a branched amino acid, e.g. valine and/or a peptide are orally and continuously or intermittently administered to a ruminant in an infantile period in which the function of the rumen is not yet developed to thereby enhance the fat accumulation among muscle fibers and fatten the ruminant. The daily dose of the amino acid and peptide is preferably 1-10 g/kg body weight and the molecular weight of the amino acid and peptide is preferably <=2,000. |
