PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detecting apparatus by which the existence and the degree of the crack of an egg can be detected reasonably and with high reliability by installing a rotation and conveyance apparatus or the like by which the egg is conveyed while the egg is being turned around its major axis. SOLUTION: A rotation and conveyance apparatus 11 conveys an egg while the egg is being turned around its major axis, and an excitation means 12 gives a shock to the egg, being conveyed, a plurality of numbers of times. A vibration detection and storage means which is installed near the exciation means 12 detects and stores generated vibrations, and a decision means decides the degree of the crack of an eggshell on the basis of the degree of an irregularity in a plurality of vibrations which are detected and stored and which are obtained from one egg. Thereby, without being confused by complicated and delicate conditions such as the thickness and the strength of the eggshell as well as the size or the like of the egg, the crack of the egg can be detected reasonably and with high reliability on the basis of the degree of an irregularity in the detection and the storage of the plurality of vibrations obtained by an excitation to a plurality of different parts of one egg. |
