PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform braking of opening and closing of a door for an automobile and holding of the opening thereof by a method wherein a press ring, radially aligned conical rolling bodies, and a pin hinge are concentrically stacked together, and a spring is urged against each hinge half-body brought into a relatively non-rotatable state. SOLUTION: A hinge pin 3 is non-rotatably erected at a hinge half part 2 fixed on the car body side and a hinge half part 1 fixed on the door side through a flange 9 and a bearing bush 4 is rotatably supported. A casing 15 and a food 30 are fixed at the hinge half part 1. A casing 15 and a hood 30 are fixed at the hinge half part 1 and a press ring 16 is non-rotatably and vertically movably arranged at the casing 15 through a standard rolling body 27. A brake body supporting member 13 to radially support conical rolling bodies 12 through a shaft 17 is non-rotatably coupled to the hinge pin 3 and the bottom part is rotatably supported by a roll bearing ring 21. The brake slope surface of a press ring 16 is pressed against a conical rolling body 12 through the force of the spring 14 to effect braking and holding of an opening during opening and closing of a door. Thus, a door securely holding device for an automobile is formed in a compact manner.
