The motor drive uses an electric battery (1) to power two electric motors (7,8), fitted one to a wheel (5,6). The two electric motors are connected in series, and the power is delivered through a controller (3). Each of the electric motors has a nominal operating voltage half of the nominal voltage delivered by the battery. A battery charging circuit (2) is also provided.
