In manufacturing a phosphor screen of a color picture tube, a cured resist layer used in a photolithography process for a black matrix pattern may remain on a hole portion of the black matrix pattern formed on the inner surface of a glass panel without being removed completely in the washing process. In such a case, the pigment of a first optical filter layer remains adhered to the surface of the remained resist layer. This adhered pigment degrades substantially the brightness of luminescent colors of two other phosphors. Therefore, among the three color optical filter layers, the green optical filter layer, which has the minimum difference between a peak transmittance and a transmittance in other wavelength regions, is formed first. Accordingly, a level of an adverse effect of the remained green pigment on the emission of the blue and red phosphors can be suppressed to minimum. |
