Treatment of the pyrolysis gases separate from cinders avoids the complications of dust extraction and exhaust gas scrubbing. Burning the residues in the absence of air reduces the formation of particularly polluting chromium compounds. The treatment involves feeding the residues into a heater, under protection from air, to the pyrolysis temperature in the absence of oxygen to produce combustible gases and cinders, and treating the pyrolysis gases in the absence of oxygen and cinders. The treatment of the combustion gases involves burning under stoichometric conditions. The cinders are treated to separate the heavy metals from the carbon black. Device for carrying out this process, containing means of supplying the residues, means of transferring them under the protection from air, means of heating them to the pyrolysis temperature and means of treating the gases and cinders. The means of supply are a hopper (20) and the means of transfer are a transverse case (22) containing a rotating screw (24) driven by a motor (26). The electrical supply to the heating system has high amperage and low voltage, in the region 2 - 10 V. |
