The four input-output circuits operate under microprocessor control to switch between idle and active operation. Four opto-electronic couplers (6-9) are mounted between the input-outputs (2-5) of the device. A controlling logic circuit (10) with a microprocessor (11) is connected to the couplers to ensure a transmission between one of the two redundant lines (L1, L2) and one of the other two redundant lines (L3, L4). Each of the couplers (6-9) is connected to the controlling logic circuit (10) by a transmission conductor (TX), a reception conductor (RX) and a high impedance conductor (HZ). The high impedance conductor is used for a level 0 or a level 1 signal to provide the necessary switching of the input-output couplers.
