PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high output in a high-frequency region by satisfying a specific relation between a track width and the head gap length of a magnetic head. SOLUTION: The relation 10<Tw/Hg<40 is set between the track width Twμm and the gap length Hgμm of the magnetic head. The magnetic head 1 is formed by bonding two cores 3 wound with coils 4 by a joining part 5. Glass 6 is packed in a head gap 2 to reinforce the gap. The material constituting the core 3 is soft magnetic materials of metallic materials, such as oxide materials of Mn-Zn single crystal ferrite, etc., 'Permalloy (R)' alloys, 'SENDUST (R)' alloys and Co based amorphous alloys. The magnetic head 1 is produced by cutting an ingot of, for example, single crystal ferrite to form a core block and determining its bearings, then polishing gap-facing surfaces to mirror finished surfaces and working winding grooves and track width grooves. The 'SENDUST (R)' alloy is deposited by evaporation on the gap surfaces and the two core blocks are welded by glass at the arbitrary head gap.
