PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easily synthesizable photographic element having all the desirable characteristics and high interlayer effects and high activity by incorporating a silver halide emulsion and a specified development inhibitor- releasing DIR coupler for producing a specified yellow dye in the element on a support. SOLUTION: The element contains the silver halide emulsion and of the photographic sensitive material contains at least one of the acylacetoanilide or malonanilide DIR coupler for forming the yellow dye having a structure represented by formulae I and II in which R1 is a tertiary alkyl or phenyl group or the like; X is a halogen atom or an alkoxy group or the like; R2 is one or more groups selected from a halogen atom and alkyl and phenyl groups and the like located in the para- or meta-position to the anilino N atom; (m) is 1, 2, or 3; R3 is an alkyl or pheny group; (n) is 1 or 2; and R4 is an at least 3C alkyl or phenyl group.
